Descriptive history:
The chest diameter (breadth) is part of the Behnke evaluation. Measurements in BLSA men
were begun in 1960
and in BLSA women in 1978. The chest diameter is obtained with a large caliper. The chest
diameter is defined by
the fifth to sixth rib, in the midaxillary line.
