Descriptive history:
The waist depth (also known as sagittal diameter) is part of the standing anthropometry that is
measured at each
visit. Measurements in BLSA men were begun in 1960 and in BLSA women in 1978. The waist
depth is obtained
with spreading calipers at the umbilical level.
