Descriptive history:
Sodium excretion was measured in BLSA men from 1973 to 1984 and in BLSA women from
1978 to 1984. Flame
photometry was used to assess the sodium concentration in an aliquot of the 24 hour urine
collection. Sodium
excretion is a marker for sodium intake.
