Specific to this Data Element:
    Descriptive history:
High density lipoproteins 3 (also known as HDL3-cholesterol subfraction) have been measured continuously since 1985. During this time, different methods and different laboratories have provided the HDL3-cholesterol values. ccx high density lipoprotein 3' refers to measurements made at the GRC using the Abbott CCX analyzer. (HDL3-cholesterols measured from 1985 to 1992 on the Abbott ABA-200 analyzer are not on the Masterfile. Contact investigators for more information). From 1991 to the present, ccx high density lipoprotein 3 has been measured in plasma using the Abbott CCX method.

Other high density lipoprotein 3 values (see above) measured in different sample types and with different methodologies are not equivalent. The ccx high density lipoprotein 3' values in this file are entered as is. Longitudinal and cross-sectional analyses made over time periods where changes occurred in the methodology require adjustment to achieve consistancy (for more information please contact investigators).
